Loosen Tight Hips And Squat Deeper With This Move
Sep 09, 2024Tight quads can be the cause of poor hip mobility. Specifically, when the rectus femoris gets tight it can pull the hips forward into a forward position.
This forward position, knows as anterior pelvic tilt, limits the range of motion of the upper thigh bone. This is also knows as limited hip flexion, which lessens how deep you can squat.
Essentially, when the hips are rolled forward, the thigh bone, or femur has a smaller space to work with.
If you release the rectus femoris and get the pelvis in a more neutral position you can improve this space, and therefore, your mobility and squat depth.
The Kneeling Sissy Squat Hip Thrust is a simple drill that can help loosed the front of the quad to improve your hip mobility.
Coach Garrett Kuljian explains how to do it in today's video.
